Cherry Creek Vineyard
Cherry Creek Vineyard takes its name from the meandering creek that runs through the Groben farm. Ground for Cherry Creek Vineyard was first broken in the spring of 2000 and continues to expand each year, with almost ten acres currently in cultivation. We grow over six varieties of French-American grapes, including Chancellor, Foch, St. Croix, Edelweiss, Seyval Blanc and La Crescent, which are bred to withstand Midwestern winters. These unique varietals produce honest wines that reflect the spirit of the Midwest.
Crush, the traditional name for harvest, occurs at the end of August, depending on the brix (sugar level) of the grapes. Although modern crush equipment differs slightly from the feet-stomping grape crush of earlier days, it remains a time for celebration. We welcome volunteers to help us harvest grapes on August and September weekends. Call the Winery at (641) 792-7022 to put your name on a grape-pickers call list and join the fun!
